 Online Photo Sharing

What is Online Photo Sharing?

Photo Sharing is the publishing or transfer of a user's digital photos online, enabling the user to share with others publicily and privately.

Photosharing websites offer photosharing for free. Yet, there may be websites that charge will charge the consumers.

The History of Online Photo Sharing

The first online photo sharing webites began in the mid 1990s and became more popular in the early 2000s.  They started with the goal of "providing permanent and centralized access to a

user's photos, and in some cases video clips too."

How can it be used in the classroom?

Online photo sharing can be used in the classroom to download pictures and use them during activities and projects.  Children can also use online photo sharing for personal uses such as myspace, scrapbooking, documenting

pictures, or creating memories.  Online photo sharing is an excellent way of storing pictures in case of any mishaps.  The teacher can upload pictures to their online photo account and use those pictures for lesson plans and

examples.  Included in the online photo sharing website, teachers and students can also add video clips.  This can help keep students from using you-tube and other distracting websites.
